Where can I buy die ?
Speak to us or one of our representatives, our team can help you identify what you need.
A - Level of screening testing required for your type of application
B - Most appropriate supply form suitable for your assembly goals and capability
We can assist with both low volume prototyping through to high volume production applications.
Key Points
Check with your supplier to make sure the product you want is available in die format:
Most designers assume that all devices that a manufacturer sells in packages are available in die form. While it is true that in order to produce package parts they produce die, it is not always the case that everything is automatically available for sale as bare die. To be cost effective, most of the semiconductor manufacturing process is automated. Wafers get probed, diced, packaged and tested in rapid succession. It is not a simple thing to remove a wafer form this flow and manufacturers do not like to do it. Typically, devices are offered in bare die form only if the demand is high or a bare die process flow is already in place. If a device is not offered, it may be possible to get it added if the volumes are sufficient. Buying die through a Franchised supplier gives you a better chance of receiving the die product you need, this is due to the close relationships we maintain with the fabs.
Buy the right grade of product suitable for your application:
Often a customer may waste money by purchasing a higher grade of die than is required for the job, on the other side of the coin a customer may also buy a commercial grade die whereas actually the project requires hi-rel qualified die.
We offer to assist the customer to help them decide what level of screening they need and what grade is most suitable for their application.
Choose the right supply form for your application:
There are two main factors which drive choice of the end bare die supply form
1. The capacity for the product to be handled safely and stored appropriately without deterioration of physical & electrical quality.
2. The suitability for the customers manufacturing process at their end
Talk to your franchised supplier, we can help you pick the most suitable supply form and enable you to produce in the most efficient way and keep yield loss to an absolute minimum.
